What Truco is
The bluffing game of Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, played loudly and often with singing. Two, four or six players. The cards barely matter compared with the betting. Three cards each, a ranking unlike any other pack, and two contests in every deal: envido, for the best two cards of one suit, and truco, for the best of three tricks. Either side may raise the stakes at any moment, and the other must accept, raise again or give up the points. Matches run to 15 or 30.
