How Schafkopf is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Thirty-two cards, eight each. All four queens, then all four jacks, then the whole of hearts are trump — fourteen of them — and they rank clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds. A queen of spades is not a spade and does not answer a spade lead.
- At a rufspiel you call an ace of a plain suit you do not hold. Whoever holds it is your partner and says nothing. When the called suit is led they must play the ace; they may not lead a low one; and you may go looking for it once, not twice.
- Wenz makes only the jacks trump, which puts the queens back in their suits. Solo names a suit to sit under the queens and jacks, played one against three. Either outranks a rufspiel.
- Settled in cents. Sixty-one of the hundred and twenty wins the base; holding the other side under thirty or to no trick at all pays more, and so does a run of top trumps.
