How Klaberjass is played here

The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.

  • Thirty-two cards, nine each. In trumps the order is jack, nine, ace, ten, king, queen — the jack is the jasz and worth 20, the nine is the menel and worth 14. In plain suits it is ace, ten, king, queen, jack.
  • Instead of taking or passing you may say schmeiss — an offer to throw the hand in. Your opponent chooses: accept and nobody scores, or refuse, in which case you are the maker in the suit you offered on.
  • Both players declare their longest run. Three cards score 20, four or more score 50. Only the better run scores, and its holder then scores every run they hold. The king and queen of trumps are 20 more.
  • Both sides count, and the maker has to be ahead. Level is a failure — the maker scores nothing and their points go to the opponent along with the opponent's own.

  3. Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
