A game of six face-down cards where you are trying to score as little as possible, over nine deals. Also played as four-card or nine-card golf.
A 52-card deck for up to four players, two decks beyond that.
Six cards each, face down in two rows of three. At the start, each player turns any two of theirs face up. The rest of the deck is the stock, with one card turned up as the discard pile.
Ace 1, number cards face value, jack and queen 10, king 0. A two counts minus 2 at many tables.
Draw the top of the stock or the top of the discard pile.
Either swap it for one of your six cards, face up, discarding the one you replaced. Or discard the drawn card and turn one of your face-down cards face up.
Either way exactly one of your cards changes state, so the layout reveals itself steadily.
Two cards of the same rank in the same column cancel each other out and score zero for the pair. This is where the game is won — a pair of queens is worth 20 points saved.
When a player has all six cards face up, everyone else gets exactly one more turn, then all cards are revealed and scored.
Play nine deals, keeping a running total. Lowest score wins, exactly as in the sport.
