What Poker is
Every poker variant is decided by five-card hands. Hand ranking, from highest: straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, high card. Poker is a family rather than a single game: the variants differ in how the cards arrive — two private cards and five shared ones in Texas hold'em and Omaha, cards dealt face up one at a time in the stud games, a single exchange in five-card draw — and Chicago even scores the hands before playing them out as tricks. What every one of them shares is the ranking above.
