Playing Euchre online with other people, step by step: the code, the seats, the table rules, and what happens when somebody drops out.
Euchre is played by four in two partnerships, partners opposite. The host opens the table, which needs a free account, and sends the code or the link from "Copy link". The others pick a name and sit down as guests.
The host chooses the target, 10 or 15 points, and whether a deal nobody wants is thrown in or the dealer is stuck with naming trumps. Everyone sees both choices before the game starts.
Partners are decided by the order players sit down: first and third against second and fourth. The lobby lists players in that order, so check it before you deal.
For two regular teams, let the host sit, then one player from the other team, then the host's partner, then the fourth. For you and a friend against two bots, the host adds one bot before the friend joins and the other after.
Each player gets five cards and one card is turned up. The decision goes round the table: order the card up as trump or pass, and if all four pass, name another suit or pass again. Everyone sees each call as it is made.
A player who names trumps can choose to play without their partner. The partner's cards are then out of the hand, and the table tells them their partner is playing alone. A hand is over after five tricks.
After each hand the table shows what it paid: a point for three or four tricks, two for all five, four for all five alone, and two to the defenders if the makers are euchred. The next deal starts once all four have pressed "Ready for the next hand".
Euchre hands are quick, so a game to 10 is a short session and 15 fills an evening better. There is no chat at the table — if you play on a call, keep what you hold to yourself.
If a connection drops, the seat is held for twenty-five seconds and then played by a bot until the player returns and takes it back. A player who presses Leave is replaced by a bot for good, and their partner plays on with it.
If the host leaves, hosting passes to whoever has been sitting longest. A table with no activity for six hours is cleared away.
