How Bid whist is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Fifty-four cards — the whole pack and both jokers, which are the two highest trumps. Twelve each and six in the kitty.
- Uptown means the trump suit runs as usual, ace high. Downtown turns it upside down: the two is the highest trump and the ace the lowest. Every other suit is untouched.
- Whoever wins the auction takes the six in the middle, puts six back, and names the trump suit. The six put back count as that side's first book.
- A book is a trick above six, and the kitty is the declaring side's first. Only the declaring side scores: it loses the amount it bid if it falls short, and no-trump is worth double either way. A side at minus the target has lost.
How it works
- Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
- Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
- Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
Questions about playing Bid whist online
- How many can play Bid whist online here?
- 4 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
- Can I play Bid whist against the computer?
- Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Every table here is free, there are no ads, and nothing about you is sold or handed on.
- Do I need an account?
- Only to open a table. Joining one never needs an account — anyone you send the code to sits down as a guest.
- Does Bid whist work on a phone?
- Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is nothing to install.
