How Auction pitch is played here
The rules this table deals by. Everybody at the table sees the same lines before the first hand.
- Four points in the whole deal. High and Low are the highest and lowest trump dealt, and belong to whoever held them. Jack is the jack of trumps and goes to whoever wins it. Game is the biggest count of card values — ace 4, king 3, queen 2, jack 1, ten 10.
- Whoever bids highest pitches: they lead the first card, and its suit is trump for the hand.
- You must follow suit or trump, and you may always trump instead of following. That one rule makes the game far more open than whist.
- The pitcher scores what they took. Fall short of the bid and the amount bid is taken off instead — the setback the game is named for.
How it works
- Open a table. It gets a short code of its own.
- Read the code out, or send the link. Anyone you send it to sits down as a guest, without an account.
- Deal once everyone is seated — or give each empty chair a bot and start now.
Questions about playing Auction pitch online
- How many can play Auction pitch online here?
- 2 to 7 at one table. A bot can take any seat nobody fills, so a game never has to wait for somebody to turn up.
- Can I play Auction pitch against the computer?
- Yes. Give any empty seat a bot and it plays like anyone else at the table, seeing only its own cards.
- Does it cost anything?
